'Gambler' was Sired by Stroller out of Holly, A most handsome
dog, he took the eye of many, He was the only gold in a litter of eight, all the
others being black and silver or black and tan, but for us he was just what we
were looking for.
Gambler was a Reserve Best In Show winner All Breeds, and he won 6 CC's prior to
leaving us for Australia, and he left as Top Dog in the Breed. His first three
CC's were from Cathy Sutton, Denise Courtney and John Bunce. Eighteen months or
so before he left he had been used by Chris & Julie Amoo on their bitch and had
produced VISCOUNT GRANT, who was BIS at Crufts. "Gable" was his legacy, so
Gambler left for the Calohorra Kennels in Australia. Where he gained his title
quickly, and he has Sired many Champions around the World.
It was never going to be easy to replace him, he lived a long and happy life in
Oz and we had the pleasure of meeting up with him twice over there. He responded
immediately to Derek's whistle. The story goes that when he was to be introduced
to the dog world in Oz after his quarantine, the first thing he did was walk
straight into the pool! not quite the way it was supposed to happen.
