Please accept this as a thank you to everybody's kind wishes, it is always a shock to lose one you have loved for such a long time.
The full story is that Lukki was named Lukki because she was still born, and she
was Lukki to be alive, I rubbed her for what seemed like a lifetime, about 10 minutes,
and got her going, she didn't seem to look back and was soon as strong as the
others in the litter.
Then she was taken ill at just under 9 months of age and then I began to wonder
if I should have tried so hard to revive her when she was born to only be taken
as a baby, I had a lot of people saying I should have her put down, but she was
never worried by her illness, and was still playing like any pup of her age with
her sisters, she was bright and happy and would even wag her tail at the vet and
both my vet and I could not bring ourselves to put this happy puppy to sleep as
she was not in any distress with her illness, but my local vet could not get to
the bottom of her illness so at just over 9 months she went off to the Animal
Medical Centre in Manchester, there they found her kidneys could not break down
protein, they were about to remove one which they though had died off, but while
being operated on the vet flushed it out and it was working but had been very
blocked and the other was only working about 50 per cent, with that they left it
in and put her on 1000 mil of antibiotics 3 times a day, and a 2 per cent
protein diet and she came home the night before her 1st birthday, it seem like
she had been away for ever, not only was the vet bill massive, thank god for
insurance, but the insurance didn't cover the phone bill trying to stay in
contact when ever I could'nt go up, we made such a fuss of them on that very
special 1st birthday. It was hard to see her so thin, she came out of the vets
lighter than she went in, but 2 per cent protein is more like a diet, and all I
wanted to do was feed her up, over the next few months I was allowed to give her
small amount of chicken and tripe but no complete dog food, just mixer, and she
slowly put on body, and only ever had one relapse, but we knew what to do that
time and she was soon over it.
She was always happy but known for her mouth (I think she thought she was a guard
dog).
After all the above I never thought about mating her, but after a hard decision
and with Pat Latimer and Yvonne Corden's support I did mate her to a very young
Exxos Gameboy (her choice not ours I went to use Micah but she fancied a toy
boy) this was to be Gamers 1st litter, all Red's, which included Istani Against
All Odd's, Butter Would Not Melt, Good Vibrations, Northerns Star and Desert
Rose.
At this time I am not sure if it has made it easier having her children and
grandchildren at home, but she will always live on them and Lydia (Hakmet a Band
of Gold) is her double.
Many thanks to everybody for their kind wishes, and thanks to Yvonne for
lighting her candle.
Claire (Kirk)
♥ I have just this minute
had a very distressed Claire on the phone to tell me that she has just lost
Lucky (ISTANI LAWDIE MISS CLAWDIE) she is one of the three girls left from the
litter my own special girl is from, a full sister to Toyah.
Luckki was a very special girl, she was very poorly as a pup and was very lucky
to be alive at 11 months of age and cost Claire an awful lot of money to keep
her alive and although a lot said at the time 'I would have her put to sleep'
Claire did all she could and little Lukki fought and so she was still with us up
until today.
REST NOW SWEET GIRL
Love from your sister Toyah and granddaughter Geisha xxxxxxxxxxx
