I was introduced to
the breed by a friend Mrs Sue Dibbley whose was showing Afghans,
so I bought my 1st
Afghan in 1977 for a breeder Mrs Turvey from Wednesbury, West
Midlands, she was a traditional black masked gold bitch, who I named
Zoë,
I was in talked in to going to ring craft with her, which we both
enjoyed, and of course this lead to going to our 1st
show, and you can say from that date I have been hooked. When I
married in 1980 my husband started showing and we also enjoyed the
racing, sadly in 1986 he died, but he brought me a new puppy
(Herman) just before he died knowing it would get me out.
Over the coming
years I have continued to show, having had puppies from Thalcyon &
Sarash kennels having success with my dogs, but in 1989 my mother
died and I brought my foundation bitch Kalute Kayoss at Istani from
Debbie Coates, and along with my son we have had a great time.
Kalute Kayoss at Istani produced my 1st
Champion Afghan which gained me my breeders diploma from the KC,
over the years I have breed further litters using mainly Pat
Latimers Zharook hounds, which as always produced classic afghans of
breed type, with classic confirmation and super movement.
With regard to judging, I
attended my 3 seminars during the years 1989 to 1999 and it was in
1999 I passed my Breed Judging Exam at the Western Afghan. The Welsh
Afghan Hound Club has accepted me on there judging list as a B
listed judge.
I have judged over the
years, but mainly locally, but before the KC change the ruling, I
judged Afghans, the Hound Group and Best in Show in Wales. I am now
looking to continue my judging career and I am willing to travel
around the country.
