 Judge Mrs Dawn Kirwan

I would like to thank everyone for their entry, the committee for their excellent hospitality and my stewards who did a great job. Weather a tad too warm for the dogs, but a great atmosphere at this super venue. The large, flat, well mown ring was a pleasure to judge in.

Overall quality was excellent. There were two undershot mouths, one wry mouth and one damaged mouth which is unusual, but it is only a fault as every other fault. Of more concern to me is the placement of the front assembly over the rib cage. Although angles are getting better, some front assemblies are set on too far forward and this ruins the outline from the head down to the feet. Often there is a lack of forechest, which shows in the front movement. These two points are not specifically covered in the standard, but when they are wrong, they affect the mechanics of movement, which is unique to our breed and must be preserved.

DOGS:

MINOR PUPPY – 1

1. Gray’s SARAKHAN SHERDAN.
8 mths Lovely B/T. Good head and expression, good shoulder, chest and rear angles. Big feet. Well set on ring tail Moved well.

PUPPY – 3 (1)

1. Busby’s WILBUS MIDAS
almost 12 mths B masked Gold. Excellent masculine head, carried on long neck, well laid shoulders, good back length, chest ribbed well back with good spring. Good length from hip to hock which he used to propel himself effortlessly around the ring. Good fallaway and ringed tail carried correctly. BPIS
2. Gray’s SARAKHAN SHERDAN

VETERAN – 1

1. Gray’s ARAMAIC ERROL FLYNN.
Black masked Cream. One of my favourites. Lovely type. Excellent masculine head with dark triangular eye. Low set ears. Excellent shoulders and upperarm. Good chest in both spring and depth, broad loin, good fallaway correctly set on ring tail. Excellent rear quarters, moved well with spring. BVIS

JUNIOR – 4 (1)

1. Boydells’ WARRENOAK WHATS IN A NAME JW B/T,
Good head with triangular eye. Would have preferred a slightly longer neck, which flowed nicely into well laid shoulders and corresponding return of upper arm. Good chest, short loin, good set on ringed tail and excellent rear quarters. Huge feet. Very nice to go over, wealth of coat does him no favours. Today, not extending on his front as his conformation suggests he should.
2. Allday & Allward-Chebsey’s SAXONMILL PTOLOMEY AT LORAHS
B/S good head excellent eye, long neck, good shoulders but not the return of upper arm which I prefer. Good depth and spring of rib, good rear quarters but did not drive as well as I would have expected. Open ring to tail.
3. Lancashire’s DRISHAUN ASK ME NO QUESTIONS

YEARLING – 1

1. Latimer’s ISTANI YOUR LOVE IS KING AT ZHAROOK
Self masked Cream. Excellent Head, with dark triangular eye and a superb expression. Would have preferred a slightly longer neck but flowed nicely into well laid shoulders and excellent return of upper arm. Chest was good both in depth and spring, well muscled loin, good fallaway with correctly set on ring tail. Excellent rear quarters. Moved with spring and drive with good forward extension.

NOVICE – 2

1. Allday and Allward-Chebseyy’s SAXONMILL PTOLOMEY AT LORAHS
2. Lancashire’s DRISHAUN ASK ME NO QUESTIONS
Brindle. Just my type, but did not pull it out the hat today. Placed 3rd in junior. Better in this class but not enough to allow me to reverse my previous placings. Masculine head, good neck, shoulder and upper arm good depth to chest, excellent rear and fallaway and ringed tail. Overall nicely balanced.

GRADUATE – 4

1. Anderson & Caton’s KATANGAS TRUE BLUE
My notes say, best balanced in a strange class. B/S masculine head with dark triangular eye. Long neck, balanced shoulder to upperarm, good chest ribbed well back, short loin good fallaway with open ringed tail. Nice rear quarters and big feet.
2. Clack’s NAGAZUMI NEBBIOLO
Self masked cream. Good head with triangular eye. Good neck into well laid shoulders. Good length to upperarm but not the return to correspond with shoulder. Chest of good depth and spring, short loin, good rear quarters which he used with spring and drive.
3. Simpson & Fitzgerald’s NELIAPILAN JAAKKO-KULTA AT TAJIKH (imp)

POST GRADUATE 3 (1)

1. Lewis Wilson & Brownless’s TOLAH IN DEMONS IMAGE
Masculine B/T with excellent head and dark triangular eye. Good shoulders but would prefer more return of upperarm. Good chest, short loin good fallaway, ring tail great length from hip to hock moved well.
2. Clack’s MAHADI BANDITO FROM MAJKIND (imp)
Would have preferred this striking domino to be larger. Lovely head, good shoulder and better return of upperarm than 1. good depth and spring of rib, but dropped topline when stacked. Excellent rear angles but not the length from hip to hock. Low hocks. Ring tail.

LIMIT 8 (1)

1. Meakes & Morris’s ANDIZHAN ARAEL AT CADMORE JW –
Shaded masked pale gold. Lovely balanced mature hound. Good head with dark triangular eye. Long neck into well laid shoulders and good return of upper arm. Deep chest, short back, good fallaway and ring tail. Great length from hip to low set hock. A smooth springy gait with a style of high order. BD. In the challenge, he looked straight at and through me to clinch BIS.
2. Lancashire’s DRISHAUN DECLAN JW
Red masculine male, lovely type and exceptional coat. You have to go over this dog to appreciate him. Good head with triangular eye, but would prefer his eye to be slightly tighter. Long neck into well laid shoulders and corresponding return of upper arm, good deep chest with excellent spring of rib, short loin, good fallaway with ring tail. Great length from hip to hock. Moved well but stumbled on one corner twice. I checked his conformation, but found nothing to explain why this happened. Handling perhaps.
3. Boydell’s WARRENOAK DELLBOY JW ShCM

OPEN 4 (3)

1. Aspinall’s TULAK THE FUGITIVE –
Masculine Shaded masked gold. Liked this one a lot. Excellent balance throughout. Good head and long neck, excellent shoulder and upper arm. Correct depth to chest and ribbed well back, short loin, good fallaway, correctly set on ring tail. Excellent length from hip to low set hock. Excellent movement, best reach and drive of the day. Just lacked that style of high order in the challenge. RBD.

BITCHES

MINOR PUPPY 2

1. Latimer, Campbell, Charlesworth & Courtney’s JIMELREE NEVER SAY NEVER AT ZHAROOK
Red brindle. Good head with triangular eye, long neck, good shoulders with corresponding return of upper arm, good depth to chest, short loin, good fallaway, ring tail, great length from hip to hock, large feet, moved with drive. Very exuberant in challenge for BPB
2. Grant-Thomas & Dixon’s KHAMIS CAFÉ DEL MAR
Blue brindle. I could not go over this bitch in this class. However persevered in subsequent classes to be able to assess her. Less houndy that 1. Nice shape, everything in balance and well made. Did not have the length from hip to hock, which showed in her drive from the rear. A lot to like about her and I hope she settles in the future.

PUPPY 3 (1)

1. Stainsby’s CLOUDSIDE MATCH MAID
Very small ten months really feminine B/T bitch, Lovely head with dark triangular eye, good neck and shoulder but not quite the corresponding return of upper arm, moderate length to back, good fallaway and ring tail. Moved well and didn’t put a foot wrong in the challenge. BPB.
2. Grant-Thomas & Dixon’s KHAMIS CAFÉ DEL MAR

VETERAN 1

1. Ryall’s VALKOR A KINDA MAJIC AT RETZINA
Classic balanced gold, good head, long neck good shoulder and upper arm, depth of chest and spring of rib good, correct fallaway and ring tail. Lovely rear quarters, covered plenty of ground when moving.

JUNIOR 2 (1)

1. Lancashire’s DRISHAUN I’LL TELL YOU NO LIES
Lovely red brindle. Liked this one a lot. Well balanced both in height to length and front to rear angles. Deep chest. correct fallaway and nicely set on ring tail. Moved well as her conformation suggests.

YEARLING 3 (2)

1. Fisher’s IFMARAF GO IN TO WIN
Shaded masked gold. Lovely feminine head, adequate length of neck flowing into well laid shoulders and corresponding return of upper arm, would have preferred a fraction more length to front leg. Good depth to chest, short loin, good fallaway with ring tail. Good length from hip to low set hock, moved well.

NOVICE 2

1. Lancashire’s DRISHAUN I’LL TELL YOU NO LIES
2. Grant-Thomas & Dixon’s KHAMIS CAFÉ DEL MAR

GRADUATE 5 (1)

1. Westgarth’s JODAK ASTRA COMICAL WITH TAMAREESHA JW
two different types headed this class and I like both of them. Lovely feminine head with just the right amount of stop and it was this feature which eventually won her the class. Long neck into well laid shoulders and good return of upper arm, corresponding angles to rear quarters, moved well with ringed tail raised.
2. Clack’s MAHADI MASCARADO FROM MAJIKIND
Striking feminine domino with beautiful saddle. Same comments apply but just preferred head of one.
3. Newton’s DRISHAUN DAISYMAE AT SHIMALMA

POST GRADUATE – 1

1. Mulvale’s BIRKHALL MEGAN
Lovely B/T, Slightly apprehensive at first. Feminine head but would prefer a fraction more under jaw. Good shoulder but not quite the corresponding return of upper arm, Level back, good length from hip to low set hocks. Moved well once she settled and raised her ringed tail.

LIMIT – 6 (3)

1. Ryall’s METEWAND WISCASSET JW ShCM
Gold with deep saddle. Super type. Exquisite head with triangular eye and correct expression. Long neck, correct shoulders and upperarm. Clean lines, deep chest, excellent length from hip to hock. Ring tail. Covered the ground effortlessly. Considered her in the challenge for BB
2. Simpson & Fitzgerald’s FREECLOUD LIMONTA
Shaded masked cream. Feminine head with good neck and shoulder, but not quite the return of upper arm, good depth, shorter coupled than 1, nicely angled rear quarters and ring tail, moved well. This bitch was overstretched by the exhibitor when stacked, so that her front legs were not under her body and she was up on her back toes, with her topline tailing off. Some judges may like this exaggerated outline, I do not.
3. Gosling’s KABELLA LOVE IS BLUE JW

OPEN – 3

1. Gosling’s MIAMARNA I’LL FLY FOR YOU
Again a close decision between 1 and 2. Lovely B/S balanced feminine bitch. Lovely head, with correct expression, good front and excellent rear quarters. Deep chest and good spring of rib, level topline, short loin, good fallaway and ringed tail Moved well. BB. BOS
2. Meakes & Morris’s ARUSHKHAN SHE’S THE BEES-N-EES AT CADMORE JW
Very old type, silver grizzle. Well balanced in all departments. Taller and longer than 1 but the same comments apply Both bitches were in superb coat. RBB
3. Clack’s CLOUDSIDE LUCKY BREAK
