Judging
Criteria
(Amended 2006)
The word ‘breed’ shall be taken to mean AFGHAN HOUND
In the context of this rule,
the word show/s shall be taken to mean show/s held under the jurisdiction of
The Kennel Club.
The Afghan Hound Club of Wales shall compile Judging Lists which should be
divided into 5 parts, namely A1, A2, A3, B & C and must be updated each
year. These shall be as follows:-
A1 LIST - For persons who have previously been approved by The Kennel Club
to award CCs in the breed and have the support of the Afghan Hound Club of
Wales.
A2 LIST - For persons who fulfil all the requirements for the A3 List and
who have been assessed in accordance with Kennel Club requirements and
accepted by The Kennel Club for inclusion on an A2 List and have the support
of the Afghan Hound Club of Wales.
A3 LIST - For persons who are recommended by the Afghan Hound Club of Wales
as being suitable to award CCs in the breed, but are not yet approved by The
Kennel Club for inclusion on an A2 List.
B LIST - For all persons whom the Afghan Hound Club of Wales would support
to judge the Breed at Shows without CCs or Open Shows.
C LIST - For aspirant judges who do not fall into any of the above
categories.
Upon written application being made to the Secretary with full details of
the following requirements, the applicants name will be placed before the
committee at their January meeting each year, and provided the committee are
satisfied that the qualifications have been met, he/she will be notified
that his/her name will be added to the appropriate list for that year
A LIST QUALIFICATIONS
Breed Specialists
1 Must have a minimum of 7 years judging experience in this breed.
2 Must have judged at least 75 classes in the breed at Open or Championship
Shows without CCs which must include a minimum of 10 Classes at a Breed Club
Open Show.
3 A minimum of 40 Afghan Hounds must have been present and judged at one
time at one Show.
4 Must have bred and/or owned a minimum of 3 dogs of this breed when they
obtained their first entry in the Kennel Club Stud Book.
5 Must have stewarded at 12 Shows (not necessarily for Afghan Hounds).
6 Must have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer and
passed the relevant examination on Kennel Club Regulations and Judging
Procedures
7 Must have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer on
Conformation and Movement.
8 Must have attended a Conformation & Movement ‘Hands On’ Assessment
conducted by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer and passed the assessment.
9 Must have attended a breed specific seminar run in accordance with the
relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination for
breed judges organised to Breed Council requirements by the Afghan Hound
Club of Wales or any other of our Breed Clubs.
Non Breed Specialists
1 Must have awarded CCs in at least one other breed.
2 Must have a minimum of 7 years judging experience in any one breed (to
include 5 years in this breed).
3 Must have judged at least 100 exhibits of this breed at Open or
Championship Shows.
This list will be divided into A1, A2 and A3 sections as detailed
previously, and shall be circulated to The Kennel Club, to Secretaries of
All-Breed and Hound Group Championship Shows in the UK and to Secretaries of
all Afghan Hound Breed Clubs in the UK It will also be sent, on request, to
anyone else connected with Canine Shows.
B LIST QUALIFICATIONS
Breed Specialists
1 Must have been owning and exhibiting in this breed for 5 years.
2. Must have stewarded at a minimum of 4 Shows (not necessarily for Afghan
Hounds)
a) one of which must be for a minimum of 10 classes
and
b) two of which must be for a minimum of 4 classes
3 Must have attended at least one breed specific seminar run in accordance
with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an
examination for breed judges organised to Breed Council requirements by the
Afghan Hound Club of Wales or an any other of our Breed Clubs.
Non Breed Specialists
1 Must have awarded CCs in at least one other breed.
2 Must have attended at least one breed specific judging seminar run in
accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an
examination for breed judges organised to Breed Council requirements by the
Afghan Hound Club of Wales or any other of our Breed Clubs.
3 Must have judged at least 30 classes in the breed at Open Shows or
Championship Shows without CCs over a minimum period of 5 years.
The Afghan Hound Club of Wales will offer Rosettes for Best of Breed,
Reserve Best of Breed, Best Puppy (where at least two puppy classes in the
Breed are scheduled) and if 6 or more breed classes are scheduled, rosettes
for 1st Prize Winners in each of the classes, to any society in the UK
inviting any persons on our B List to judge any number of classes in the
breed, but not to award CCs in the breed.
C LIST QUALIFICATIONS
For aspirant judges of the breed who have attended at least one Breed Club
supported seminar on the breed, who have judged a minimum of 15 Afghan
Hounds and who have the support of the Afghan Hound Club of Wales to judge
up to a maximum of 5 classes at Open Shows.
The B List & C List shall be circulated to The Kennel Club, to Secretaries
of All Breed and Hound Group Championship Shows in the UK, to Secretaries of
all Afghan Hound Breed Clubs in the UK and to all Secretaries of Canine
Societies in Wales, and will also be sent on request to anyone else
connected with Canine Shows.
