Judge : Shona Bettany

Thank you to all the owners for bringing their lovely Afghans to this show in the dreadful weather!  Some of the dogs (and handlers!) struggled with the slippy carpet, it would have been better to have the cold concrete floor!

Puppy

1st Cross & Cross Gilari Devil Wears Prada (BPIB & PG1) Classy red bitch of excellent breed type and proportions, balanced front and rear angulation, houndy with a clear, natural definition and soundness of outline both stood and on the move.  Good length of neck into well laid shoulder with corresponding return of upper arm and  matching rear assembly.  Stunning head and wicked expression.  Good spring of rib, depth of chest.  Prominent pinbones and angulated croup.  She powered around the ring with balanced, scopey reach and drive, very steady, sound and assured, was so delighted when she won  the strong puppy group

2nd Evan's, Hillier and Carr's Gilari Devil in Disguise at Numa Bozwood  Another classy red bitch, litter sister to 1.  The same comments apply as 1, although 2 is more compact and slightly smaller. Was so difficult to separate these two, every time I looked down the line they were both free standing completely sound, square and balanced with matching outlines. 1 was more settled and together on the move today.  These two will swap places many times I am sure!

Junior

1st G. Devil Wears Prada

2. Hitch and Parker's Zendushakas Glenmorangie Shapely, attractive black dog, with a good overall balanced outline.  He has matching front and rear angulation with lovely low hocks and a sound topline, both standing and on the move.  Lovely head, eye and expression.  Good neck into shoulder and good rib/loin ratio.  Huge coat well presented.  Moved well with balanced reach and drive and very good spring.  Lovely huge feet!

P/G

1st Cheeseman's Jimelree Wrong is Right at Zaram (BOB) Elegant, classy brindle bitch I have admired greatly from the ringside.  Square, sound and clearly defined angulated outline which she holds both free standing and on the move.  Stunning, chiselled head, with excellent carriage, good length of neck into good shoulders and balanced front assembly which matches her well angulated rear.  Prominent pin bones and clearly defined croup.  Good rib/loin ratio, good spring of ribs and depth of chest, she is in great, hard condition. Sound, scopey movement with balanced reach and drive.

2nd Wignall and William's Sitana Patiala at Syrdarya (RBOB) a very close decision!  Beautifully made gold bitch, lovely typical head into good length of neck and excellent shoulder with corresponding return of upper arm, matching front and rear assemblies give her long raking strides which she uses to her advantage to power around the ring. Houndier than 1, which I prefer, but unfortunately carrying a little too much weight today which she needs to lose to keep  her definition of outline.

Open

1st Green's Sashkan Adeje Gucci Elegant, leggy black and silver bitch.  Square, sound, defined outline, with a good overall balanced shape.  Beautiful head into good length of neck, matching front and rear assemblies.  Sound in topline, good spring of rib and depth of chest.  Balanced mover, with a graceful, elegant action and lovely carriage of head.  In very good hard condition.  Did not seem happy on the carpet in the challenge.
2nd Fielder's Ashahni Azanti at Garamond JW  Compact, powerful black and brindle bitch, with a beautiful head and eye. Good shoulder and lovely low hocks, good spring of rib and depth of chest.  Profuse and well presented coat.  Excellent carriage and attitude, really catches the eye as she moves around the ring. Preferred the topline and overall proportions of one, but two lovely bitches nonetheless.
