Afghan Hound Club of Wales Ch Show

Judge : Bitches : Graham Parsell
Numerically this was a disappointing entry with 52 bitches and 49 dogs and the
bitches in particular were sparse in the earlier classes, noticeably so at many
of the Afghan championship shows this year.Nevertheless, I was able to find
bitches that were feminine, elegant and stylish on the move. I can’t understand
though, why when asked to move their dog, that so many exhibitors wrap the lead
in a number of turns round their hand and then set off with a 12 inch tight lead
between them and their dog.! The result of which shows the dog pulling away and
distorting the leg movement. Presentation was excellent except for one and I
thank exhibitors for their care, time and attention. It did not go unnoticed.!
1st Hall’s Saxonmill Midnight Music, shaded black masked gold of pleasing proportions and excellent outline and with no exaggerations. Good sound body, reachy neck topped with a well balanced typey head. Moved steadily and soundly. Best puppy in show in agreement with the dog judge.
2nd Devaney’s Saxonmill Midnight Majic, black and tan of elegant proportions and on the first run round this looked to be my winner. Not quite as mature as the winner and when she bodies up as she gets older, she is going to challenge the best. A pretty and very promising puppy that moved with spring and style with good tail carriage.
3rd Cross’s Gilari Devil Wears Prada.
1st Evans’, Hillers’s, & Carr’s Gilari Devil in Disguise with Numabozwood, black masked gold of excellent type, everything in place and a promising youngster of 6 months old. Well bent stifles which she used to show that she could move much more steadily in this class. One to watch.
1st Wyatt and West’s Storm in a Teacup at Bellapais, Nearly 10 years old and in excellent body and coat condition. She got cracking on the move and the well presented coat enabled my co-judge and I to agree to best veteran in show.
1st Fielder’s Ashani Azanti at Garamond. A black and tan of the most beautiful shape and proportion. From the start she moves elegantly with lift and spring. Lovely front angles and shoulder placement complimented by well bent stifles, moves with level topline. Reachy neck topped by a beautiful head. No exaggerations here in this bitch at all. Lovely presentation and handled sympathetically. She will challenge the best soon.
2nd Green, Powell and Hitch’s Zendushkas Whiskey Galore, a most elegant black masked gold that pushed the winner hard. Shorter coupled than the winner with lovely compact proportions. She did not have the spring and drive of the winner today but I think this one has a promising future.
3rd Hitch’s Zendushkas Sparkling Rose.
1st Metcalfe’s Cubanba Northern Star, shaded gold of the most pleasing shape and outline with a good body substance. Excellent front angles, good reach on the move, sound coming and going with a firm topline standing and moving. Good bend of stifle, and finished with a ring tail carried well on the move, Well handled and good presentation.
2nd Raynor’s Jahadi Nadine, a black and tan of glorious type which on the first run I thought might be my winner, longer in loin than the winner, moved well, soundly and with purpose, excellent breed detailing to head, croup, and tail. Lovely presentation. One I would love to get hold of.
3rd Lacey’s Keamarola Karlesha
1st Zendushkas Whiskey Galore
2nd Hitch’s Zendushkas Sparkling Rose, black and cream of good size and proportions, firm top line standing and moving, attractive head shape and expression, finished with a ring tail.
3rd Gilari Devil in Disguise with Numabozwood.
1st Forrester’s Hubblebub Morrigan by Punkly, black and tan of pleasing proportions on the top side of the standard for size, well presented, quite stylish moving and finished with a ring tail.
1st Floyd’s Hubshe Ukemochi, black and tan of
good size and sound body condition. Well presented and handled moving out and
back with some style and gaited the ring well and the best mover gaiting the
ring. Won this class with some ease.
2nd Andrew and Scott’s Andizhan Alexandrinah, black bitch of pleasing type and outline which looked the winner at first glances. Good reach of neck and a pleasing head but not moving positively when it was called for.
3rd Clewley’s Gezancol Claudine at Lingarzi.
1st O’Donnell’s Javidan keep the Faith, a glorious
brindle of substance and easily the best mover in the class. Anyone wanting to
see rear drive – this is the bitch. Glorious coat presentation but too much for
my own liking and I did not appreciate the trimmed body coat length. Lovely to
go over and a super mover, reaching out in front and driving at the rear. At
first she was skittish to let me see her beautiful head and expression, but it
was easier a little later in the class. She nearly threw it all away but I could
not deny this bitch the CC.
2nd Collett’s Kazzlyn She’s the One at Mhasud, a lovely dark blue brindle bitch with lots to like about her and such a collected mover. Lovely shape and outline and did not disappoint to go over. Excellent mover, presented well and such a close decision between 1st and 2nd.
3rd Virgo’s Altside in Black Silk for Sumahari.
1st Smart and Greenfield’s Birhall Sophia, an elegant
black and tan which looked super standing, a super outline with the best of
presentation. Moved well, soundly coming and going, absolutely loved the type
and she was a contender for the CC and finally won the Res CC. This bitch will
surely make it to the top.
2nd Moore, Rogers and Freer’s Cloudside Wardance at Montravia, a beautiful brindle bitch of the right size and proportions, good to go over with everything in the right place, moved well in the class and sympathetically handled.
3rd Greenfield’s Neliapilan Taakatinmorsian
1st Gosling’s Ch Miamarna I’ll Fly for You, black and
cream of a most pleasing outline, well balanced and looked a picture standing.
She won this class gaiting against some good moving bitches. Beautifully
presented coat, reachy neck topped with a classy head with super expression.
Another bitch aimed for continued top honours.
2nd Hall’s Ch Saxonmill Star Struck, a black of pleasing outline style and performance with all the breed characteristics. Lovely type to go over and a most worthy champion.
3rd Harding’s Ch Miamarna Mandolin at Ashahni
With my co-judge, Domenico Traversari, we agreed to call for the referee and the dog CC winner Edward’s Agha Djaris World is Not Enough was awarded B.I.S and the bitch CC winner the R.B.I.S.
For Best Puppy in Show, my co-judge and I agreed on Hall’s Saxonmill Midnight Music
